This page contains answers to common taxidermy questions, along with some tips and tricks to prepare your animal for processing.

How do I prepare an animal for a shoulder mount?

When skinning an animal for a shoulder mount, cut the animal at least half-way down the back and cut around the legs at the knees. It is always better to have extra hide than not enough. Place the hide in an airtight plastic bag and freeze immediately.
